Online affair services? It’s official, we are all gonna get nuked.
Okay, it’s not like I’m religious or anything. Sure, I was raised in a Christian home with Christian values but I don’t consider myself one and am a far cry from “bible thumper.” I do, however, still hold some traditional values and just saw a commercial for Ashley Madison which left me speechless. The commercial was something of a Brady Bunch intro… if “Brady Bunch” was the nickname for a Florida State frat house full of 30-something homosexuals in a musical about extra-marital sex. I wasn’t sure if I should laugh or puke.
Do people get tired of their marriages and have affairs? Yes. Has it been going on since the beginning of time? Uh… yeah. Will it stop anytime soon? Not likely. But do we really have to be so casual about it? Marriage is a serious commitment, and while not everyone takes their vow of “til death do us part” to heart, if you are going to cheat on your spouse at least have the manhood to feel bad about it.
Honestly. When I saw this commercial part of me wanted to look around the room to see if I’d been transported to Bizzaro World but didn’t for fear of being turned into a pillar of salt. …or bombed by a zealot terrorist for living in a culture where marital infidelity is openly marketed and packaged in a big pink bow.
*cue twilight zone music*
I’m starting to understand what our grandparents pined about as they watched the morals of their generation get melted down into sex objects for tweens and drug paraphernalia for pop stars on Radio Disney.
Tomorrow I think I’ll throw on a shawl and yell at kids to stay off my lawn.
